The Windham region homeless population has reached critical mass!
Last year our numbers jumped by 30%. Our female population is up by over 100% from the previous season. This type of increase is unprecedented since the shelter opened. Given the economy we are bracing ourselves for another potential increase of 25% in the coming year. This means that over the course of the coming winter we expect to see between 175 and 200 homeless people in Windham...

The Windham Region No Freeze Hospitality Center is a Community Coalition founded in 2003 by individuals dedicated to making sure no one is left out in the cold. Our goal is to provide basic overnight shelter from cold weather for homeless persons over the age of 18 from November 15th through April of each year. No one is turned away, all we ask is that our guests respect the volunteers and each other. For the 2007 - 2008 Winter Season we will be housed at 49 West Street, Willimantic.
