The Windham region homeless population has reached critical mass!
Last year our numbers jumped by 30%. Our female population is up by over 100% from the previous season. This type of increase is unprecedented since the shelter opened. Given the economy we are bracing ourselves for another potential increase of 25% in the coming year. This means that over the course of the coming winter we expect to see between 175 and 200 homeless people in Windham...
...That's not the scary part!
We have a home for this year, but we do not know if we will have a home for next year. We are desperately in need of a permanent home. If you have a serious offer of space that could house 20 - 30 people please contact us immediately.
